Day 6: A Day of Rest

Yesterday was a wonderful day of rest!
We went to the Libertad Methodist Church. Zack gave the sermon and preached on Pentacost.

Today is our last day here. Going to finish up some last minute touches on the teachers cottage. Tonight 5/9 the school is throwing a going away party for us.

We've had a fantastic trip.

Day 5: Mayan Ruins

We went on an excursion to the Mayan Ruins yesterday. Had a fantastic time and learned lots about the Mayan culture.

Got to see and interact with some amazing wildlife as well. A few of us fed this Spider Monkey who was quite friendly.

Zack and the boys climbing up the High Ruins.

Our tour guide said it is very rare to see a Toucan, as they are very shy.

These are leaf cutter ants on the ruins.

Meet Manuel left) and Angel (right)
They are the construction workers that we have worked with on the teacher's cottage. We have built a great relationship with them and invited them to join us on the excursion.

Howler Monkey. They are extremely LOUD! Carried on most of the time we were at the ruins. Found out they were trying to protect a baby monkey.

Enjoying the boat ride.

Today is church and afterwards, we are looking forward to a cookout at Lisa and Jamie's house.

Day 4: Still Having Fun!

Good Morning!
Yesterday was another great day spent with the children.

Showed them my Polaroid camera and they were fascinated by it, yelling "Magic! Magic! It's magic!" A few of the children got to keep the pictures.
Here is one.

The kids have given us a great workout. Not a lot of time for us to rest during the day. We all love being with them though.  Played volleyball yesterday with them for about 2 hours.

Day 2: Warm Welcome

Yesterday was our first day working in Libertad. We were greeted with such a warm welcome! The children were a joy to be around.

There are several more fantastic pictures but unfortunately the internet is very slow here.

We also worked on the teachers cottage for 6 hours.
